Macklin, a revolutionary new typeface superfamily built for today’s needs in graphic design.
Designed by the award-winning typeface designer Malou Verlomme for the Monotype Studio, the Macklin font family is inspired by the time when type moved beyond books and was used in eye-catching street posters or advertisements.
Consisting of four subfamilies, Macklin is an extremely versatile typeface superfamily including sans, slab, text, and display styles. Equipped with weights ranging from hairline to black, the superfamily comprises 54 styles in total. Macklin’s sharp and elegant letter shapes are well suited for today’s needs in graphic design such as branding, editorial publications, or packaging design. Despite the fact that the family was inspired by the work of 19th-century British typographer Vicent Figgins as well as good old print design and typographic trends from this period of time, Macklin is not a historical typeface. Type designer Malou Verlomme explains, “When I settled on the current form of Macklin, I focused on the needs of today’s designer: A sans for everyday needs; a sturdy slab that stands out; a text for longer reading; and a display for large, crisp headings.”
