The Twine font by Robbie de Villiers, an elegant serif stencil typeface from Wilton Foundry.
Robbie de Villiers is an award-winning multi-disciplinary designer based in Wilton, Connecticut. In 2003 he has started the Wilton Foundry. Today I want to present you one of his excellent font designs. The Twine font is a beautifully designed serif stencil typeface that comes in two weights (a regular and bold version) plus matching Italics. Robbie de Villiers describes this typeface as “an exaggerated representation of the calligrapher’s individual pen strokes that create a cohesive character which is enhanced with the stencil.”
Especially it’s calligraphic strokes provide a very friendly and legible design compared to other stencils. The Twine font draws inspiration from the Plantin typeface, which is based on the 16th century Gros Cicero face cut by Robert Granjon. Twine is intended as a display typeface with a classic but timeless appearance. The font works best for book covers as well as packaging, signage, branding, hospitality, advertising, museum displays, and much more. This is an outstanding serif stencil typeface that can be used as webfont and desktop font.
